Last year we made the trip from Newcastle to Belfast to take in our first experience of Belfast’s Culture Night. Culture Night is a celebration of the culture and essence of a town or city, and in recent years has spread across many towns and cities in both Ireland and Northern Ireland. While we enjoyed taking in all of the festivities last year around the Cathedral Quarter, this year we went down a different route, and one that left us pleasantly surprised.

The Guinness Storehouse – A must see in Dublin

Guinness Storehouse Dublin - Pikalily Food Travel Blog

It’s was the most popular tourist attraction in Ireland in 2013 and it’s easy to see why.  We’re talking about The Guinness Storehouse, the home of Ireland’s most famous export – the black stuff – Guinness.  We recently spent a day touring around Dublin and decided to get on the city bus tour, and top of our list of places to check in on was the Guinness Storehouse.  This was our second time at the Storehouse having previously visited last Christmas.  It’s fair to say it was a tad busier on this occasion as the Americans where in town to watch Penn State vs UCF in an American Football game at Croke Park.  We didn’t hang about, and set about enjoying this magnificent tourist attraction once again.

In what has become a bit of a summer tradition for us, we took the very short trip to the Harbour House Inn in Newcastle to enjoy the BA Aerospace Festival of Flight.  We always like to get down to the Harbour Inn early to ensure we get the very best seats in the beer garden to enjoy the best views of the air display overhead.  As we live just a few minutes up the road from the harbour, we have been lucky in recent years to always get a good seat, and this year was no different.  With the air show kicking off at 2pm and the highlight of the day being the display from the Red Arrows, here’s a few snaps of what turned out to be a great day.
