Family City Breaks in Europe to Consider

Berlin Zoo - Pikalily Travel Blog

Heading away with the family for a trip somewhere lovely is always going to be high on the agenda. Whether it is the annual holiday that you enjoy together, or if you are fortunate enough to enjoyy many breaks away in each others company, you all want to ensure that you have the very best time.

Of course, you focus on the company that you have, the break from routine and a chance to catch up, but the destination is equally as important to add to the dynamics of your break and the things that you can do to occupy your time. After all, not all children are content with sitting by the pool or on a beach each day.

This is why some people are starting to look at alternative destinations for breaks, and cities are offering  a great alternative. However, finding the right city can be challenging. With that in mind, here is one option to consider with a bit of insight into why it might be fantastic for your family.

Copenhagen, a bit of background

Copenhagen is the capital city of Denmark. Copenhagen, and the country itself, has become more popular in recent years thanks to the home interior and lifestyle trend that is Hygge. This the Danish art of living happily as apparently the Danish people are some of the happiest in the world.

Copenhagen sits on the Coastal islands of Zealand and Amager. There are so many wonderful places to see and do in the city itself, and it has become a popular spot for people to enjoy as a couple, but also as a family.

Where to stay

There are plenty of destinations to stay in the city itself, and you will be spoilt for choice. There are some luxurious hotels that are perfect for a weekend escape, however, going as a family doesn’t mean you are left short of choice.

There are plenty of family hotels in Copenhagen that you can choose from. Many of which are very close to local transport, shopping districts and restaurants that you can enjoy together.

What to do

Copenhagen is known to embrace family lifestyle, and it is evident with the amount of play parks that are there for the whole family to use and enjoy. There are also things to do such as Copenhagen Zoo and the National Aquarium for all you animal and nature lovers out there. Perfect days out for children.

Not to mention the famous Tivoli Gardens is the perfect place for the whole family to enjoy.

What’s the weather like?

Travel Itinerary - Pikalily Blog

The weather in Copenhagen can be judged very similar to that  in the UK, although you may find the temperatures are a little bit cooler than they would be here. They get strong winters such as snow, as well as lovely warm summers, so depending on the type of weather, or what you want to do, you are bound to enjoy the city.

So there you have it. Let’s hope this has inspired you to add Copenhagen, and even Denmark on to your bucket list.
