You want your bedroom to feel warm, cosy, and inviting. By making a few small changes, you can give a tired bedroom a new, fresh feel without causing a lot of disruption for you or your family.
With that in mind, here are some easy and inexpensive ways to change the look of a boring bedroom and give it a new feel. Read on to find out more.
Move Furniture
Take a look at the layout of your room; you can completely transform the appearance of your bedroom by rearranging the position of the furniture in just one simple step. Be sure to plan it out ahead of time and use a tape measure to check that everything will fit before you begin.
You could even have built in wardrobes installed, which would change things even more. The room will look entirely different once this is done. Although it might be hard work to move the furniture – it is often very heavy, so do get help if you need it – the effort will pay off when you see the difference it makes.
New Bedding
Considering that your bed is most likely the room’s focal point, investing in a brand-new set of bedding is an excellent way to bring freshness into your bedroom. You could go for something that unifies the entire space, or you could make a statement with a solid colour or a graphic pattern.
You want it to catch your attention as soon as you walk through the door, and the best way to do that is for it to be prominently displayed, so moving the bed, as we mentioned above, could be an ideal solution.
Add More Light
When you are deciding how to decorate your bedroom, lighting should be at the top of your list of priorities. Depending on what you plan to do there, you will require both task lighting and ambient lighting. Therefore, replace the light fixture in the ceiling with a stunning pendant light or, if the ceilings are particularly high, consider installing a chandelier.
The number of lamps required to properly illuminate the space can range from one to two, so make sure not to overlook this essential step. They are much gentler than the light coming from the ceiling, making them an excellent choice for setting the tone for your room.
Conceal Your Wires
Make your bedroom look more put together by finding creative ways to conceal and hide the wires that run from your lamps, television, and other electronics, such as your phone charger.
Crocodile clips can help to group together multiple wires, and small tacks can be used to keep wires running along skirting boards. Wires can be hidden in a drawer by doing things like drilling holes into the backs of bedside tables.
Add A Plant
Bringing in some greenery or, if you prefer, some fresh flowers can also breathe new life into a drab space, but plants are an even better option. If you are limited in the amount of space available on the surfaces, you might want to consider using a floor planter or even a hanging plant.
