A guide to creating a lace design on cupcakes

Lace is so on trend at the minute!  It is seen everywhere from interiors to weddings to cakes!  It is surprisingly easy to create a lace effect on cakes, biscuits and cupcakes, and all it requires is some Royal icing, a piping bag and a small paintbrush.  Royal icing dries hard so it can hold its shape, making it perfect for intricate patterns.  Hopefully this step-by-step guide will show you how to create the pattern of the moment!

Last week (Friday 9th October) we attended a media preview of the new Marco Pierre White Steakhouse Bar & Grill at the Park Avenue Hotel, Belfast. It’s a real statement of intent both for the hotel and the local area to have the famous Marco Pierre White (MPW) associated with Park Avenue in East Belfast. While we didn’t get to see the whole interior of the hotel, the fact it has evolved from modest 2 star to boutique 4 star is testament to Mandy Patrick, the third generation of this family owned hotel which has been in business since 1959. Party season has begun at M&S

There’s just something so inviting about the food court at M&S and on a recent trip to their Sprucefield store we couldn’t resist from helping ourselves to lots of goodies.  As our wedding draws ever closer we decided to stock up on some party food so that we can feed any guests who decide to pop by on the run up to our big day.  With a 3 for 2 offer we certainly got value for money.  If you’re looking for some party food for the upcoming festive season then we’d strongly recommend checking out the range on offer at M&S.  They also have some Christmas party food combos available to order online.  To give you an idea of some of the food you can grab this Christmas at M&S, here’s a list of the food we got.  All of these can be frozen to allow you to get the whole Christmas period out of using them.  We’ve sampled a few of each of them ourselves and the rest are now stored away awaiting guests over the Christmas season.
